Yes, this is part of XML, the following entities are defined:

&	&amp;
<	&lt;
>	&gt;
"	&quot;
'	&apos;

Currently, if the server encounters bad XML as in the above example, it
will currently just drop the connection, but eventually it will at least
attempt to deliver an error message first.
